What FDA says about compounds
FDA explains that compounded drugs are not reviewed for safety, effectiveness and quality before marketing. It says they should be used for patients whose medical needs cannot be met by an approved drug. This is a substantive limitation, not a minor branding detail. It does not mean we can decide whether a particular person needs a compound; that requires the prescriber’s assessment.
What the manufacturer identity establishes
The current Wegovy page distinguishes semaglutide tablets and injections and gives population-specific information. Zepbound’s page identifies branded tirzepatide and defined adult uses. Those product records are more precise than a generic GLP-1 heading. An approved indication belongs to the named product and relevant population; it is not automatically carried over to a different preparation.
Why drug-trial figures cannot be transferred
A trial studies a defined formulation, participants and period. A telehealth page displaying its result does not establish that a compounded preparation or care platform has been studied in the same way. The price, route, ingredients and follow-up arrangement may all differ. A comparison should name the source of the result rather than attach it to whichever offer appears nearby.
Photographs are not pharmacy labels
Some provider pages acknowledge that imagery differs from the actual supplied item. That is a reason to ask for precise prescription and dispensing information, not to infer a branded pen from a promotional image. We have not inspected shipments, audited pharmacies or tested batches. Public pages can describe an offer without proving the contents of an individual customer’s package.
Bring the exact product question to the clinician
A useful conversation asks what preparation is being considered, its regulatory status and the reason for selecting it. FDA also advises involving a doctor and a state-licensed pharmacy. This guide does not provide an administration schedule, judge personal suitability or declare two formulations interchangeable. The comparison is about identity and evidence so that the clinical discussion can be more specific.
